The Art Around the Corner Foundation in St. George, UT is dedicated to supporting the arts, enhancing the community’s lifestyle through art; and, displaying fine art on nearly every street corner in historic downtown St. George. This organization – which has changed names a few times since its formation in 1988 – was a driving force in restoring the long-abandoned St. George Opera House to its former glory, building the St. George Art Museum and Social Hall in the Pioneer Center for the Arts complex on the corner of Main Street and 200 North.
But, the organization’s signature project is the Art Around the Corner Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit, including some significant works created by nationally recognized artists. New works are installed annually and numbered pieces are available for lease or purchase. Several pieces are currently on display and can be seen on the Town Square or dotting the landscape at the Pioneer Center for the Arts; in front of local banks on Tabernacle Street or can be viewed in a leisurely stroll along Main Street. Some are a nod to our pioneer heritage. Others are reminiscent of childhood or just pleasingly whimsical. Many are modern and open to interpretation, but each is uniquely beautiful and a pleasure to behold in any weather.
