The new Thunder Junction All Abilities Park, located at the confluence of Dixie Drive and Tonaquint Drive, is designed specifically for children with disabilities who now no longer have to sit on the sidelines. This special 2.5 acre accessible-to-everyone theme park took 3-years and $5 million to complete and includes sensory-rich dinosaur themed play equipment, double wide slides, ramps and wheelchair-accessible soft floors. Thunder Junction also features a make believe 20-foot volcano, a half-scale train which provides a 2,700 foot ride around the park, and colorful tile murals made up of the hands of children of all ages who helped build the park.
This “most unique” park in the state of Utah recently became a reality through a partnership in which the City of St. George spent $3 million and the community – including businesses, non-profit organizations, clubs and individuals – donated more than $2 million to provide the incredible social, physical, and emotional benefits of play to all children, whether they live life with or without disabilities.
If you have little ones along during your time in St. George, a trip to the park will be fun and memorable. What will also be memorable will be a week or month in your comfortable vacation home-away-from-home, so register online today at stgeorgeresortrentals.com for accommodations at the St. George Resort Rentals or laspalmasresortcondos.com for Five Seasons Vacation condominiums.
