From April 29 to August 16, 2017, the St. George Art Museum at 47 E. 200 North will recognize our community’s very own outstanding artist groups as one of the museum’s Twenty (events) for 20 (years of operation) Celebration. No matter your favorite medium, you are certain to find the kind of art to make you oooooh and aaaaah with delight! You’ll see some of the best and brightest works from members of the Southern Utah Art Guild, the Dixie Watercolor Society, Color Country Camera Club, the Dixie Quilt Guild and the Painted Hills Fiber Artists.

The Dixie Watercolor Society is dedicated to promoting, encouraging, educating and advancing watercolor artists through meetings, demonstrations, lectures, workshops, classes and shows for the benefit of members, other artists and the general public.

The Southern Utah Art Guild promotes the growth and development of Southern Utah’s visual arts by providing opportunities, education and support for its membership including individual artists – both novice and professionals from all visual art mediums – as well as patrons and organizations.

The Color Country Camera Club is exactly what it sounds like – a gathering of men and women with a mutual interest in photography.

The Dixie Quilt Guild is a proud group of 200+ members with a passion for quilting. Based here in St. George, members work to encourage, promote and preserve the art of quilt making. Through Guild activities, their goals as an organization are to inspire one another, share tips and techniques, celebrate achievements, improve skills, and enjoy the camaraderie and support of fellow quilters.

Painted Hills Fiber Artists create beautiful landscape and other fiber artwork. The use of various fabrics, fibers, threads and other materials create a unique type of art some term “Quilted Art.” Fiber artists use a wide range of techniques including various sewing methods, coloring, inking, dyeing and even hand painting to create their special art.

The St. George Art Museum is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. There is a small entry fee of $3 per person.

So if you are a lover of all things beautiful, add this impressive new art show at 47 E. 200 North to your list of “things to see and do” on your southern Utah vacation, then register online for a week or a month in a comfortable and affordable home-away-from-home.
