The 39th Annual St. George Art Festival, held as always on Easter weekend – this year March 30-31- is a testament to what visionary leadership can do to take a small idea and turn it into something amazing and grand. What began 38 years ago as a way to showcase the work of local artists has evolved into an event attracting more than 100 artists – in every venue, including oils, water color, ceramics, photography, jewelry and the broad category of “other” – juried from hundreds of submissions from across the United States. Not only will festival-goers enjoy incredible, one-of-a-kind works of art, over 30,000 residents and visitors to our red rock community, will also enjoy live entertainment on two stages, a children’s area full of interesting and fun activities for your little ones, and a variety of food items from which to choose.
St. George has a well-earned reputation as a retirement community, but it is also becoming a mecca for artist lovers, drawn to the area by the spectacular scenic beauty of the area. Some come here to live fulltime while others come for a quick dose of inspiration from our beautiful red rocks and clear blue skies. Come Check out the Kayenta Art Festival.
About 75 artists in a variety of mediums and from all across the country will come on the weekend of October 9-11 to be featured in the 16th annual Art in Kayenta Festival, where, in just 90 minutes about a dozen of them will exhibit their skills and demonstrate the processes necessary to produce creative art. Enthusiastic spectators will have the opportunity to watch, photograph and encourage their favorite artists to complete their pieces which will then be sold in either a live or expanded silent auction.
The fundraising event to benefit the Kayenta Art Foundation, will welcome art lovers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival will also include live entertainment, specialty food vendors and the popular Beer and Wine Garden.
