The 25th Annual Enterprise Cornfest, as it has been for the past two and one-half decades, is one of those Norman Rockwell events small communities around the country plan for all year, eagerly anticipate and enjoy together – but even if you’re not from Enterprise, there are two really good reasons to make the 35-mile road trip to the Enterprise City Park (400 E. 400 South) on August 29!
The first reason is cooler temperatures in Enterprise, located several thousand feet higher above sea level than in St. George. It’s still warm in Enterprise, but not nearly as much so as St. George in August. The second reason to travel to Enterprise for this little event is the deliciously good sweet corn-on-the-cob, which you can buy by the ear dipped in melted butter and sprinkled liberally with salt and pepper or by the dozen if you’d prefer to take some home.
An estimated 3,000 – 5,000 people show up for the Cornfest, where in addition to fresh corn, they enjoy a vintage car show, a ½ marathon, live entertainment for the entire family from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., including a corn eating contest, giveaways and lots more. The Enterprise community is noted for its productive farms and tidy homes and gardens. Their amazing corn is grown both commercially and privately and everyone takes pride in their crop. When its time to harvest, they celebrate together and with anyone who wants to join them in this – the coolest spot – in Washington County. Admission to the Enterprise Cornfest is free.
