The world premiere of “The Tavern,” a satirical comedy written by the 1930’s most famous song and dance man, George M. Cohan and adapted by Joseph Hanreddy, is certain to be a memorable evening of fun, laughter and edge-of-the-seat anticipation. The story line tells of the happenings on “one dark and stormy night when a wild wind blows all sorts of oddball characters into a remote Utah tavern—a mysterious vagabond, a damsel in distress, a politician, his daughter, and her fiancé. A thief is on the loose, suspicions abound, and no one is who they seem! Everyone tries to solve the crime, which only multiplies the laughter as this melodramatic farce rolls to its madcap ending.”
“The Tavern” runs on alternating evenings and matinee performances from September 19 to October 21 in the beautiful, indoor Randall L. Jones Theater on the campus of Southern Utah University. Tickets are available at the Utah Shakespeare Festival ticket office, by phone at (435) 652-7800 or online at www.bard.org.
