The regional premiere of the highly imaginative, vaudeville-infused William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play (Abridged) tells the marginally-true (well, actually not true at all) story of what is claimed to be a long lost manuscript of William Shakespeare’s first play. Playing on alternating days from July 28 to October 21, this fast, funny and frenzied performance finds a trio of comic actors using their questionable knowledge of The Bard and their street sense to do the convincing. Audiences in the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theater on the campus of Southern Utah University will be delighted with this show’s unadulterated hilarity.
The Anes Studio Theater, opened its doors in July 2016 as one of three new venues allowing the Utah Shakespearean Festival to increase the number of offerings it provides each year. Designed to showcase small, more intimate shows, including the new plays program for “Shakespeares of tomorrow,” the Anes Studio Theater – named for longtime USF supporters – has flexible seating for approximately 200 theater patrons.
Tickets for any – and all – shows playing this year at the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre are available by calling 1-800-PLAYTIX or you can order online at bard.org.
