The 28th Annual Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show, an eagerly anticipated opportunity to view more than 250 works created by 130 artists reflecting their love of the red rock country side, as well as still life and figures in oils, watercolor, pastels, and acrylics. The biggest art event in the entire state of Utah will also feature incredible one-of-a-kind ceramics and sculpture in bronze and glass.
The show opens to the public at the Delores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center on the campus of Dixie State University on Saturday, February 14 and runs for 6-weeks through March 29, 2015. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m., the show is free to all art enthusiasts.
The goal of the event is three-fold: It provides art lovers an avenue for purchasing exquisite art for their own collection; supports the addition of art to DSU’s permanent collection; and, is a venue for educating university students and the public.
Named for the late Robert N. and Peggy Sears who, like so many others, retired to Southern Utah in the 1980’s only to discover a lack of a thriving art community. While they loved the scenery and their friendly neighbors, they missed big city culture, so offered their time and resources to create an event which would become pivotal to bringing art and artists to the St. George area.
Of course, nothing can take the place of the view out the window of your St. George Resort Rental, but a visit to the Eccles Fine Arts Center will give you a different perspective through the eyes of world-renowned artisans.
