VOLUNTEER

St. George and neighboring communities could easily be called “the volunteer capitol” of the nation’s #1 state for volunteer service!   All across Southern Utah an army of men, women, college students and teenagers in high school share their time, talents and experience to benefit hospitals, schools, libraries, support organizations such as the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Tuacahn Center for the Performing Arts, Huntsman World Senior Games, St. George Marathon, Utah Summer Games, Dixie State University Theater, St. George Lions Dixie Roundup Rodeo and countless other happenings in this part of Utah.  In Utah’s five county region volunteers assist as ushers, musicians, tutors, mentors, as well as in costume design and repair, landscape planting, answering phones, and fundraising.

Men and women of all ages distribute t-shirts, register participants, park cars, make quilts and other craft items to sell in gift shops; donate cookies, fudge and popcorn balls, take baby pictures, judge competitions, restack library books, scoop ice cream, set up and take down, assemble packets and organize information … and serve in a whole host of other activities to help where and how they can to make their community a better place to live and raise a family.  The service of generous and hardworking volunteers makes a difference in the quality of life here in Southern Utah!
